Annapurna Devi Pandey

Dr. Pandey was born and brought up in Odisha, India, about twenty miles from Kapileswar village, where The Myth of the Buddha’s Birthplace was filmed. She earned her doctorate in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University and now teaches at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and San Jose State University. She has produced Homeland in the Heart, a film about immigrants from Odisha living in the USA, and is currently working on a second film documenting a grass-roots organization in Odisha, which has found a way to enable impoverished women to become financially independent.
