Laura Nader

Laura Nader is Professor of Anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley. Her current work focuses on how central dogmas are made and how they work in the fields of law, energy, science, and anthropology.

She has authored many books, including Harmony Ideology: Justice and Control in a Mountain Zapotec Village (1990); Naked Science: Anthropological Inquiry into Boundaries, Power and Knowledge (1996); The Life of the Law: Anthropological Projects (2002); and most recently, Culture and Dignity: Dialogues Between the Middle East and the West (2012).

Prof. Nader is also the producer of two classic ethnographic films: To Make the Balance (1966) and Little Injustices: Laura Nader Looks at the Law (1980).
